Mentoring Towards College

Mentoring Towards College is an intervention-based mentoring and match support program, designed to track the grades, attendance, discipline and survey-based outcomes of students involved as mentees (Littles) in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

The comprehensive program strategically focuses on college readiness to help reduce and ultimately eliminate the achievement gap for under-represented students in the 4th – 12th grades through the use of a grade-specific curriculum (i.e., activities, workshops, and roadmaps) facilitated by volunteer mentors.

The program empowers the mentors (Bigs) and mentees (Littles) to work jointly together to explore and achieve success throughout their matriculation through their secondary education leading to post secondary success.  The program provides hands-on activities, workshops and presentations for Littles to reach age appropriate goals through the provision of experiential learning for youth, parent engagement, and purposeful match activities.
