the BIG event
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta (BBBS) held its first ever The BIG Event on Wednesday, December 5 at Ten Pin Alley in Atlantic Station. Approximately 250 attendees joined special guest host Holly Firfer (DaveFM Radio Personality and Co-Host of WXIA’s ‘Atlanta & Company’), at the fundraiser to benefit the youth mentoring programs of BBBS. A fundraising goal of $14,000 was successfully met through sponsorships, ticket sales and a silent auction. The silent auction featured a vacation package to Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Air Tran air tickets and a ‘dj for a day’ package courtesy of V103’s Greg Street. The event also included a red carpet entrance with paparazzi, bowling, billiards and dance beats from Ten Pin Alley’s DJ Salah.
The annual fundraiser was developed by the BBBS Ambassadors, a guild of young professionals that supports the organization via volunteer and fundraising efforts. Ambassador President Emily Crawford (Arby’s Foundation, Inc.) and Ambassador RJ Bibby (Accenture) served as the event chairs.
Event chair Emily Crawford added, “In addition to the fun, there was bigger purpose for this event. There are about 1,300 children on the list waiting for a mentor here in
Proceeds directly support BBBS of Metro Atlanta’s mission to transform the lives of children through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring, well trained volunteers.
